Swedish Overlay

The Swedish Overlay is the process of joining two separate bubbles of glass on separate blowpipes together and turning one inside out over the other.  This process is used to bring an even layer of colored glass to or near the surface of the piece and thereby making it accessible to carve through the layers of colored glass after the piece has been annealed and cooled to room temperature.  I use this process to create the "blanks" for my blown and carved pieces.
