Carving

Abrasive wheels are used to grind into the glass and remove the material creating designs and exposing the layers of colored glass beneath the surface.  Rougher grits are used first to remove most of the material and then followed up by finer grits to create smoother finishes.  Various profile and dimension wheels are used to create different marks in the glass.  I primarily use round, flat and V profiled wheels with diamond abrasives for my blown and carved pieces.
